My Gap: “in what way might I enjoy the cooking process” (specifically for removing heat around stove while cooking)
I have been travelling extensively on work and unable to create physical prototypes of my concepts. Also given nature of the design problem (gas burner), for sake of safety am not taking too many chances with any paper/cardboard prototypes (i got a good shout after i tried the cardboard base unit on the first prottype below)
Below is the best i could manage (some prototype, some digitally created)
Concept 1: Heat Separator
The idea here is to direct more heat to the vessel and then isolate the user so that he can stay comfortable
Air Curtain to isolate user from heat
Concept 2: User Cooler
The idea here is to have blowers on top of the exhaust that can keep the user cool and comfortable while cooking
Concept 3: Center Intensity - Burn Retain
The idea here is to better direct heat to vessel and redesign vessel to retain more heat.
The burner will be modified as below and the vessel base would be restructured to retain more heat and allow less to escape
